 Looking Back

   Although only five issues

   were ever published (a

   sixth issue never made it

   to the newsstands), Star

   Magazine's impact on the

   establishment of the day

   was profound. From the

   onset, the magazine was

   destined to face

   formidable opposition.

   Brazen and audaciously

irreverent in its advice to an

  adolescent readership, the

  teen tabloid raised more

  than a few eyebrows, even

back in the days of free love

  and uninhibited self espres-

  sion. But Star's loyal readers

  continued to hang on its

  every word. To some, its

  chronicles of Sunset Strip

  groupie antics and its

  instructions on how to

become the ultimate "Fox" were eye opening fantasies, to others a rallying cry... And then it was gone.

                            Going Forward

Some 33 years later,

Star Magazine is the subject of folklore and nostalgic intrigue amongst those who knew it best.  It is one of the most highly sought after

publications on internet auction sites, reportedly attracting bids as high as $150 an issue. Articles which graced its pages have been posted on various websites for years. But perhaps most compelling of all, is how in five issues Star Magazine catapulted a group of virtually unknown (outside of music circles) eccentrics into cultural icons.

STAR GROUPIE MAGAZINE.Net has been created to help celebrate and preserve the spirit that was Star Magazine.  This interactive community will serve as a sorority of sorts. You may come here to reminisce, to share your thoughts and opinions, to get caught up on the latest Glam news, and to buy and sell Star Magazines.

You will also be able to interact with some of the major players of the day via live chat. You'll get their take on the Glitter Rock craze, and you'll find out what they're up to now.
